Mental Health Case Manager - World Campus

Penn State World Campus Student Affairs is accepting applications for a full-time Mental Health Case Manager. The Mental Health Case Manager will provide initial consultations and ongoing services for students who are experiencing a wide range of mental health, behavioral and emotional concerns; work to identify, triage and connect students with community based resources as a remediation to serious problems that interfere with student success and well-being; will also research, develop and implement web based wellness resources and provide proactive and instructional outreach programs for students, faculty, and staff both within the World Campus and the larger university community in partnership with instructional design support. Experience in community-based counseling/social work and case management, is required, along with ability to use advance technologies, work with diverse populations, and the ability to collaborate across administrative structures.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide case management appointments to facilitate client connection to ongoing mental health services.
  • Research, develop and implement web-based wellness and self-help resources and manage the relationship with online mental health vendors in partnership with offices such as instructional design support, providing instructional outreach programs for students, faculty, and staff that benefit the World Campus and the Penn State community.
  • Case management coordination calling insurance companies, online searches for services, communicating electronically with students regarding coverage and provider options.
  • Review crisis line reports and escalate client care, as needed, and serve as a member of the World Campus Behavioral Threat Management Team through reviewing cases, assessing level of risk, and determining action items.
  • Participate in unit wide meetings, professional development activities, complete general administrative tasks, and other duties, as assigned.


Typical Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a master's degree or higher in Social Work, Community Mental Health or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure: Licensed or license eligible Social Worker or equivalent

Additional Required Competencies:

The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and organizational ability, communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing (including the development and delivery of materials for online presentations and webinars), and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate should also demonstrate initiative, high energy, and an ability to work in a fluid environment with shifting priorities. This position will be physically located at University Park, PA (State College, PA).
