Director - Career Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pittsburg State University Office of Career Services is searching for a Director. The primary function of the Director of Career Services is to serve as a senior member of the University Advancement team and is responsible for the planning, organizing, managing, implementing and evaluating the university's comprehensive employer relations, career development, and student employment programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
70% - Provide operational oversight of all employer relations, career development, and student employment activities including, but not limited to: on-campus recruitment by outside organizations; career fairs and related events; career counseling; resume, credential file, and interview preparation; the Career Resource Center; "Handshake platform;" and outreach to prospective employers. Operational oversight includes supervising staff, programs, and budgets related to the above activities undertaken on behalf of Pittsburg State University. Is on-camera spokesperson for a variety of career/employment related topics.

10% - Supervise the teaching of PSYCH 230 Career Exploration each semester. Teach a section of this course as needed and associated student advising. Make presentations to variety of classes regarding career related topics.

5% - Oversee the collection of data and compiling of the annual First Destination Survey for submission to the Kansas Board of Regents. Serve as a liaison to accrediting bodies and academic departments the data contained in the First Destination Survey.

5% - Lead and coordinate all facets of the campus Corporate Engagement effort.

5% - Coordinate and implement alumni career outreach and resources.

5% - Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for University Advancement, to include service on university-wide committees, as well as participation in Division of Advancement initiatives.

Education and Experienceregarding
Required Education and Experience at Hire -
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Advanced degree in Psychology or Counseling or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.

Preferred Education and Experience -
Experience in a higher education setting

Appointment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday
