JOB SUMMARY

The Admission Counselor for Visit Experience will assist in planning on campus and virtual events and visits, and be responsible for the recruitment and counseling of undergraduate students. Main responsibilities will include student Ambassador management, front desk management, visit and event support, and an admission counseling caseload (including communication with students, their families, and schools; interviewing students; giving presentations, and evaluating applications).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Hire, Train and Supervise student employees, including admission front desk employees, student ambassador/tour guides, summer student employees.
  • Manage staffing schedules for the admission office, including office coverage calendars for employees and students
  • Manage and coordinate prospective student visit schedules to include: interviews, class visit days, coordinated athletic visits, virtual visits
  • Provide front desk and phone coverage when students are not available.
  • Provide on-campus event support for large events
  • Manage admission territory to include: communication with prospective students, reviewing admission applications and recommending decisions
  • Serve as in-office Counselor of the Day on a rotation with other admission counselors. Cover majority of Counselor of the Day duties when other admission counselors are traveling during recruitment season.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Liaise with Athletic Department to coordinate visits and recruit students
  • Code visits and attendee information in Slate (Student recruitment database)
  • Manage inventory
  • Identify and develop new opportunities for increasing the visibility of Simmons in domestic territories where we do not engage in recruitment travel
  • Cover local travel occasionally if needed
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • Entry level position
  • Driver's License


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Fluency in additional language/s helpful

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • On-campus work with some hybrid/remote possibility, depending on the time of year (1-2 days)

  • Essential physical requirements: standing at events, typing
  • Physical effort- light - up to 20 pounds
  • Weeknight and weekend work sometimes required as part of admission visit/event schedule.
  • Travel requirements: occasional travel coverage at high schools and high school fairs
