Position Description
Performs academic counseling or training at the individual level. May supervise counselors or other employees. Performance is based on individual counseling effectiveness and overall program results obtained.
Major/Essential Functions
The provision of professional counseling services to students with disabilities, analyzing special complex problems and management of decentralized student disability programs and services. Performance is based on individual student disability counseling effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Ability to multitask; strong written and oral communication skills; crisis management skills; knowledge of the ADA laws; computer knowledge (PowerPoint, word, excel, etc.).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years experience in related area. Additional education in a related area may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, Psychology, Special Education, or related field of study directly related to assigned work. One year of college experience working with students with disabilities. Knowledge of ADA law and its application to higher education.
