Job Description

The Reynolds School of Journalism seeks a temporary, part-time academic advisor to assist with advising duties between early May and September.

The academic advisor will be responsible for advising undergraduate journalism students for fall semester courses under the supervision of Reynolds School administrators. Duties include meeting with students individually (in-person, on Zoom and by phone) to determine academic requirements and schedule fall courses. Participation in freshmen orientation is also required. Using student management software to advise, document and communicate with students is an important component of the job.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree.

Proficient use of software for student enrollment.

Preferred Qualifications

Advising experience in higher education is preferred, as is familiarity with the Reynolds School of Journalism curriculum.

Experience in using PeopleSoft and Canvas.

Scheduled Weekly Hours

The position would be a maximum of 32 hours per week.

Compensation Grade

Letter of Appointment-Salary dependent on experience.
