POSITION: Student Engagement Counselor (FT Temporary)
Effective immediately: (FT Temporary) Student Engagement Counselor in Wilmington University's Student Engagement Center – New Castle.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years' full-time experience in student service. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience in delivering student and enrollment services, with a preference for those familiar with service-oriented organizations and computerized student information systems, particularly Ellucian. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with demonstrated skills in data analysis and reporting. The individual must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while managing multiple responsibilities. Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, and communication skills—both oral and written—are essential, as are public speaking abilities and the capacity to engage effectively with diverse populations. The Engagement Counselor will provide exceptional student-centered service using problem-resolution techniques and proactive outreach strategies to support student success. This role requires the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders and contribute meaningfully to Wilmington University's goals for student retention, graduation, and overall institutional success. A thorough understanding of higher education, student development, and enrollment services is expected, along with knowledge of Wilmington University's policies, procedures, and missions. Leadership and sound decision-making skills are essential, including the ability to identify key factors, evaluate options, and establish priorities. Familiarity with systems such as Banner, Recruit, BDM, and Landis-Teams is preferred. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is necessary. Must demonstrate respect for others in the workplace and a commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Respond to phone and electronic inquiries from students and serve as a liaison to an assigned college.
- Serve as a liaison to student service departments, including but not limited to the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, Advising, International Affairs, Admissions Operations, and Recruiting.
- Provide accurate counseling and information to resolve issues/inquiries related to academic records, billing, student accounting, loans, financial aid applications, payment methods, registration, DegreeWorks, course schedules, and other related University matters.
- Provide accurate and timely delivery of information related to matriculation and enrollment through various modes, including the website, social media, and printed materials.
- Promote and foster a supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Manager, and/or Lead Engagement Counselor.
Hours of Employment: The hours are generally Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or as needed. The incumbent must be flexible with their hours to meet the needs of the department and the University. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. hours may be required.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
