Program Director for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Service Programs

Position Purpose
The Program Director of Clinical Mental Health Counseling serves as the academic leader of the MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and MS in Human Services (HS) Programs. The Director ensures program integrity, hires and assigns faculty, sets program schedules, assesses and revises curriculum, is responsible for student support, oversees clinical experiences, and works with community partners. In addition to this, the Program Director has a teaching responsibility of at least three credits per term. The Director reports to the Dean of the Science, Health & Exercise Division and assists faculty members, staff members, and students, by fulfilling the responsibilities as outlined below.

This is an administrative position with faculty responsibilities. This is a full-time, 12-month position with expectation of time on the Henniker campus, and travel to partner cohort instruction sites.



Essential Duties Summary
  • Serves as program authority for all student issues, including incompletes, academic probation, and disputes with faculty;
  • Advises and collaborates with Admissions on admissions strategies for the degree programs;
  • Addresses prospective student inquiries regarding the program;
  • Attends information sessions for the degree program, and conducts orientation for all new cohorts;
  • Confirms graduation audits for students. The director will attend college graduation ceremonies and all celebrations associated with the degree program;
  • Trains and mentors new and adjunct faculty;
  • Conducts an annual audit of state licensing laws to inform curriculum, and federally-mandated and publicly-available disclosure statements;
  • Collaborate with Academic Advising on a rotation of course offerings. Staff courses with faculty;
  • Responsible for curriculum review, assessment, and revision;
  • Develop and oversee student dispositional standards and assessments, to ensure students meet developmentally appropriate clinical training competencies;
  • Oversee community partners and collaborate with Clinical Coordinator on site visits, faculty training, and assurance of quality clinical experiences for students;
  • Maintains proficiency in the academic discipline through a variety of venues, scholarship, conference attendance, and networking in the field;
  • Expected to teach a minimum of 9 credits/year in the program to maintain academic proficiency, connect with students and faculty, and to assess program quality;
  • Other duties as assigned





Required Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Counseling/Counselor Education or equivalent



Experience
  • Counseling experience in clinical mental health setting
  • Evidence of successful academic planning and implementation, program development and evaluation, and personnel and budget management
  • Curriculum review and assessment
  • Evidence of teaching and scholarly or professional attainment
  • CACREP accreditation

Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well-versed in licensing requirements for New England region
