Position Summary:
The Admissions Counselor provides academic and educational counseling to prospective students; develops and executes targeted recruitment activities, cultivates and nourishes relationships with business, military and educational partners; assists in the development of documents, policies and systems congruent with the College's strategic enrollment management plan.

Supervisory and Other Relationships:
This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and has no direct reports.

Position Responsibilities:
The following examples of duties illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position, but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.
  • Recruits and advises prospective students in person and virtually ensuring responsive and professional support for potential students and external partners at every stage of the admissions process;
  • Uses a CRM and other technological resources to track applicant progress, report on recruitment outcomes, and analyze data to enhance customer service;
  • Provides preliminary academic advising;
  • Works as part of the Enrollment Services team to achieve enrollment goals in accordance with departmental and college strategic plans;
  • Collaborates with other college departments including Student Financial Aid and the Bursar's Office to ensure prospective students understand and can access financial resources;
  • Cultivates and nurtures relationships with college partners including community college staff and faculty, military officers and educational counselors and human resources and staff development officers;
  • Assist with the development and execution of MOUs, transfer and articulation agreements and CCAP agreements;
  • Assists with the construction and realization of targeted marketing plans;
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of departmental events;
  • Presents workshops and attends college/career fairs in corporate, community and educational settings;
  • Represents the Enrollment Services Department at Faculty Committee meetings;
  • Serves on College-wide committees as needed;
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional issues.


Minimum Qualifications:
Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student population. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.). Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience or Master's Degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years relevant experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Experience working in a CRM system, such as Target X, as well as student information systems.
  • Some travel and evening hours are required, including a regularly scheduled weekly evening shift.
  • Onsite presence is essential to this role.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidate of the position will additionally possess the following:
  • Experience working with online learners.


Work Environment:
The incumbent typically performs work in the offices of the College's headquarters located at 185 Main Street, New Britain, Connecticut. The work does not, normally, involve any significant physical effort. The incumbent may travel to public sites to make presentations as well as travel to national or regional meetings and conferences.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $71,159 - $96,567 and while experience and qualifications are considered, candidates will start at the minimum of the salary range. This position also comes with excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity. Selection Procedure:
