Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UC Santa Cruz is recruiting Multicultural Mental Health Licensed Psychologists to provide students with a wide range of mental health and wellness services as well as preventative outreach and consultation services. CAPS, a unit within Student Health and Wellness (SHW) is committed to providing culturally appropriate services to our diverse student body, with a particular focus on serving our marginalized and underrepresented students. We strive daily to create a caring and supportive environment to assist students in improving their physical and emotional well-being to aid in their academic success.
While full-time, 12-month employment is preferred, CAPS is willing to discuss alternate percentages of time, based on applicant preference. If less than 12 months is preferred, the position can contain regularly scheduled unpaid, non-work periods in the summer during which the Multicultural Mental Health Licensed Psychologist remains an employee and retains health benefits, but is not at work.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides a variety of mental health and psychological services to UCSC undergraduate and graduate students, including brief individual and group therapy, psycho educational workshops, crisis intervention, outreach programming, online services, and consultation, to support student academic success and well-being.
The Licensed Multicultural Mental Health Psychologist reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is assigned duties by the Director as specified herein. The Licensed Psychologist will provide high quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services; and may provide supervision/training of doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows. In discharging these duties, the Licensed Psychologist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio-economic status, etc. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students with diverse backgrounds. All the Licensed Psychologist's activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of the California Board of Psychology, as well as, applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California. This position requires demonstrated expertise in multicultural and diversity issues in clinical and outreach services with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) identified students.
Salary Information: Salary Range: $95,408.18 - $111,772.86 / Annually (if working 12 months) OR $7,950.68 - $9,314.40 / Monthly (based on time worked). Salary commensurate with years of licensed experience as well as specialized skills and qualifications.

- Provides brief counseling and psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students (individuals and couples) with a broad range of psychological problems, with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) identified students.
- Provides crisis assessment and crisis intervention.
- Provides case management and referral services.
- Conducts group counseling, psychoeducational groups, and drop-in groups.
- Consults with students, faculty, and staff regarding student concerns and student distress that affect the developmental and psychological well-being of students in the university community.
- Consults and collaborates with psychiatrists, physicians, campus entities (i.e. Slug Support, Disability Resource Center, and others) and off-campus mental health professionals, social agencies, and community resources to meet the mental health needs of students.
- Determines the need for other professional interventions and refers as necessary.
- Provides supervision and training of doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as needed.
- All licensed staff will provide consultation for the After-Hours Crisis Service as scheduled.

- Functions as a community psychologist and a consultant to faculty, staff, residential life staff, and other units on campus regarding collaboration and program development for outreach and training to enhance the mental health and psychological well-being of students and the campus community.
- Participates regularly in a cooperative and professional manner in efforts to maintain and upgrade the quality of service of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) unit by participating in CAPS committees and workgroups and collaborating with other CAPS licensed psychotherapists, college administrators and staff, and faculty in program development, committee work, and consultation.
- Promotes a safe and healthy workplace and effectively responds to injuries that occur.

- Develops and implements culturally responsive and multiculturally sensitive outreach programs to BIPOC students.
- Functions as a liaison to campus organizations serving BIPOC students.

- Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills, including ability to work with high acuity students with complex mental health needs
- Experience facilitating psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups
- Experience designing and implementing multiculturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and stated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity issues in the delivery of psychological services
- Demonstrated expertise with developmental and mental health issues of late adolescence
- Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and to effectively collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to be an effective team member, and evidence of professional behavior
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Doctorate and internship from APA accredited program
- Counseling experience in a college/university setting
- Experience and/or interest in supervision and training of doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows
- Experience and expertise working with diverse, marginalized or underrepresented student populations
- Able to conduct psychotherapy in a language other than English
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Valid California licensure, in good standing, in Psychology OR Valid out of state licensure, in good standing, in Psychology*
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check and a pre hire credentialing check prior to formal offer of employment.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
- Selected candidate will be required to take a TB test within 60 days of hire.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
- Ability to maintain appearance and conduct suitable for working in a professional setting.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete Title IX (Sexual Harassment) training every two years. Selected Candidate will be required to take HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility) training within 30 days of hire.
