Starting Salary Range: $4583 - $5833 per month for 11 months.

Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE) is the advocacy and prevention education office at University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC).

CARE supports survivors of sexual assault, stalking, and dating/domestic violence, as well as their significant others and allies. CARE also promotes a sex-positive consent culture on campus through programming, training, workshops, and other outreach to students, staff and faculty.

Under the supervision of the CARE Director, the CARE Advocate will provide crisis counseling and advocacy for campus victims/survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking by working with campus and community partners, including UCSC Police Department, Women's Center, Student Health Services (SHS), Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES), Student Conduct, the Dean of Students Office, Title IX, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Monarch Services and Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center.

The CARE Advocate will assist CARE staff with developing and providing targeted outreach and training to the campus community, and help publicize the advocacy services offered on campus and in the Santa Cruz community. The CARE Advocate will also have the opportunity to supervise student interns, and will assist with data collection and administrative tasks.

Qualifications include:

- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or related field

- Ability to work with individuals who have experienced sexual assault, stalking, dating/domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, or sexual harassment

- Ability to recognize complex cases that may require transferring to an advocate with more experience

- Able to effectively use professional skills, objectivity and insight in effectively advocating for the survivor

- Demonstrated ability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identities
